Work Experience
Willow is a female technology startup that developed the world's first all-in-one wearable breast pump. Straddling the medical device industry and consumer electronics industry, Willow develops Class I & Class II medical devices and sells these high-volume products direct-to-consumer. Willow is a platform for products that help improve the lives and health of women.
As a Mechanical Design Engineer within the R&D Hardware Team of Willow, I was a direct contributor to the creation, development, execution, and on-going improvements of consumer-focused products designed to bring joy to motherhood. I collaborated closely with the multidisciplinary engineering & development team to bring new innovation to market and to sustain our existing product line.
A few highlights of my work experience at Willow include:
- Leading the mechanical designs of two Class I medical devices through the full product development cycle, from initial concept to EVT / DVT / PVT builds and clinical trials to mass production and ultimately commercial launch
- Traveling internationally to work on-site with our contract manufacturers and to troubleshoot on the fly mechanical and system level problems during DVT and PVT builds of a Class II medical device
- Designing, executing, and documenting experiments to: define laser welding parameters for production manufacturing of a pre-market design, debug unforeseen motor stall issues in an electromechanical system, generate formal data for 510(k) and letter-to-file submissions to the FDA
- Building static and semi-automated electromechanical test fixtures to assist with mechanical verification, firmware verification, and system level functional testing
